With the VE-PG4 gateway, interoperate through IDAS™/analog, WLAN, and SIP devices. Each operation has advantages that are very well suited for many verticals such as public safety agencies, education, farming, and transportation. Part 3 of the VE-PG4 Configurations blog involves our LTE radios, satellite radios, and the Radio Discovery Tool, RDT.
The full-duplex LTE IP501H/M radios operate over a wide geographic range wherever cell phone towers reach. Full-duplex communications allow telephone-style conversations between radios. Easily interconnect these LTE radios with existing land mobile radios, IP radios, or even SIP phones with the VE-PG4 gateway’s built-in SIM card slot. Another benefit of the built-in LTE connection is the interconnectivity between the VE-PG4 without going through an IP network. Laying any firewall safety concerns to rest.
For example, a school might have existing IDAS/IP/analog radios on campus. When throwing the VE-PG4 gateway and the IP501H/M into the mix, no extra repeaters to extend range is required. Bus drivers can use the IP501H/M’s LTE signaling to communicate along bus routes to report or respond to route changes, delays, or safety concerns back to the school’s existing radio system.
With the SAT100, utilize Iridium’s satellites to access areas without any cellphone towers. The SAT100 could be used for functions such as overseas operations. For example, marine radios can only transmit so far, but with the IC-SAT100, a cargo ship can stay in contact with ports or an office SIP phone to notify or be notified of any problems or reroutes.
Furthermore, expand tracking capabilities for these radios with RDT. RDT provides real-time tracking, mapping, and metadata for Icom’s LTE or satellite radios. Analyze the metadata to troubleshoot problems such as radio interference, call quality, and determine coverage of systems. When expanding connectivity, RDT serves as a great analytical software solution to pair with the VE-PG4 gateway.
The VE-PG4 gateway can weave different protocols together to provide a truly interconnected system. The LTE-ready gateway can expand on existing radio systems. Eliminate the need for repeaters with an LTE or satellite signal. Track radios, analyze data, and compile reports with RDT. Whether it’s an IDAS radio, SIP phone, or LTE radio, the VE-PG4 gateway can seamlessly bridge them all.
